Its all about the iron – Cast iron’s heat retention is legendary and its what makes all the difference between the cast iron Dutch oven and all other “pots”.  Iron provides even heat and is slower to heat than other materials, plus it holds heat for longer. This means less burned food and better results for dishes with longer simmering times on the stove top. Heat retention means the Dutch oven can join you at the table as a serving piece or travel to a friend’s house while keeping food warm (check out our Dutch oven travel bag).

We designed and crafted ours after testing 12 popular brands and picked the best elements of each design. Here’s what we focused on:

  • Large loop handles – easier to grab with oven mitts
  • Wider diameter and lower walls – more cooking area on the bottom and easier access
  • Light colored interior – easier to monitor food inside
  • Premium metal lid pull – no need to skimp on the details.
  • Ridiculously durable enamel – we want your Dutch oven to be functional and durable for years to come.

Care & Use

Hand wash only with soap and warm water.
Wooden or plastic utensils recommended (no metal).
Allow the pot and lid to fully dry before storing it away. Lightly wiping the rim of the pot with oil will prevent rust.
If staining occurs, use baking soda and boiling water to make a paste. Let the paste soak and then gently scrub with a soft sponge.

I haven’t even had it more then a month and a half. I came with looked like a hair like scratch. Then after using one time it started webbing. Called customer service and she said send a picture my computer is not working at moment. I was very excited to use it especially since it’s very expensive and was my early birthday gift

Thank you Marquette Castings!

This is by far one of the best companies I have ever came across. They have excellent customer service. They listened to me, they understood my concerns and they fixed my problem. They were very prompt in their responses to my emails. Thank you Marquette Castings for sending me a new Matte White Dutch Oven pot and not putting me through the hassle and expense of sending the first one back to the US. This one is flawless and beautiful. I will keep recommending this company to my family and friends in the Caribbean Islands and I will be ordering another one soon!

Dutch oven for daughter

It was a gift for a 24 year old who just got her own place. Her reaction was what I hoped for x 1000. It’s a beautiful piece with a lifetime of use.

all kindsa awesome

I researched Dutch Ovens for months. Of course I watched the two Test Kitchen review videos. And I looked at colors, heights, handles, lids, knobs, and finishes. Lodge was never a consideration because of that weird bowled shape at the bottom. And the Cuisinart Chef's Classic (ATK recommended) piece has doubled in price since their review. Misen stopped offering theirs with a traditional lid & now you have to buy it with that awkward grill-pan lid. Then I watched Marquette's videos with Eric slamming steel balls & hammers into the enamels. And I saw how he really strove for even-handedness in reviewing each pan. To be fair, I was already more than halfway there towards buying the Marquette Castings Dutch Oven... those are the biggest loop handles of anyone's - and the interior finish is even brighter than the Le Creuset. Then I found out that their metal knob is over 2" in diameter. And it performed as well as Le Creuset & Staub for enamel durability? And Eric is gonna stand by that pot even if I damage it? What more did I need to know? I bought the Shipwreck Navy 6-quart (it's actually a bit bigger than 6 quarts). Man, is this thing beautiful. And for its inaugural run, I really put it to the test. Pre-heating the Dutch Oven at 500 degrees for over 20 minutes, then pulling it out & dumping a glob of room-temperature bread dough into it. Then baking at 485 until that bread was dark, dark brown on top. The extra flour had burned black onto my beautiful Dutch Oven's pristine enamel bottom! When I tell you that the enamel cleaned up perfectly, I mean this Dutch Oven looks sparkling new. This enamel is as tough & slick as glass. Marquette's Dutch Oven is just the perfect size; the look is stunning, and the form and function is, it seems, the best you can get. I don't always write reviews this involved, but I'm not shy about this one. In the non-French category for Dutch Ovens (or if you simply want the biggest, best handles), I believe you cannot do better than the Marquette Castings.

Just as nicely made as my Le Creuset.

Wonderful quality and service. These are my new favorite for cast iron enamel.
